Zach Cartaya was s senior at Columbine High School in 1999. Along with 59 other students, he barricaded in the choir office for three hours before being released by the SWAT team. After graduation, a month after the shooting, Zach enrolled in college and obtained a Masters in Political Science from University of Colorado Denver.
Zach has dedicated his life to helping others by becoming a public servant in addition to co-founding The Rebels Project. Even though he has been through the unimaginable, Zach still believes that being kind to others can change the world. Zach lives in Colorado with his sweet dog Morty and hopes to continue his efforts of supporting survivors of mass trauma by advocating for their unique mental health needs.
